６月１日、群馬県富岡市の『第８回富岡市国際交流まつり』に参加しました。２年に一度、市民とくにお子様と世界が触れ合うことのできるアットホームなイベントです。富岡市とミクロネシア連邦大使館は約３０年に亘り交流があり、今年は「万博国際交流プログラム」の交流相手国に決まりました。このプログラムの一環により、大阪の万博会場からヤップ州政府観光局の２名が駆け付け、ヤップ州の伝統衣装や生花のレイを編むデモンストレーションを行い、イベントを盛り上げてくれました。ウクレレ演奏と歌のパフォーマンスでは、皆で歌って踊って会場が一体になりました。
また、例年どおりミクロネシア連邦ポンペイ州の小学校２校と、富岡市の小中学校が絵画展を通して交流しました。ご協力して下さった青年海外協力隊、富岡市国際交流協会の皆様に感謝申し上げます。さらに、世界遺産・富岡製糸場を見学しました。榎本市長をはじめ、関係者の皆様には大変温かいおもてなしをしていただき、大使館一同、心より感謝申し上げます。今後も末永く友好を深めていけることを願っております。
The FSM Embassy particiapted in the 8th Tomioka International Exchange Festival in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture, on June 1, 2025. The festival is held once every two years where citizens, especially children, have the opportunity to interact with people from different part of the world.
Tomioka City and FSM have close friendly ties for more than two decades, and this year Tomioka City was chosen as a goodwill partner for the EXPO 2025 International Exchange Programme. As part of this programme, two members of the Yap Visitors Bureau came from the Expo site in Osaka and enlivened the event with traditional Yap State costumes and a demonstration of weaving fresh flower leis. A performance of ukulele playing and singing brought the audience together as everyone sang and danced.
As in previous years, two primary schools from Pohnpei State, Federated States of Micronesia, and an elementary and junior high school from Tomioka City, exchanged through a painting exhibition. We would like to thank the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and the Tomioka City International Exchange Association for their cooperation. In addition, the FSM Embassy delegation visited the World Heritage Site, Tomioka Silk Mill. We thank Mayor Enomoto and everyone involved for their warm hospitality. We look froward to continue to deepen our friendship in the years to come.
