駐日ミクロネシア連邦大使：ジョン・フリッツの日々前進！

NPO法人エコプラスが昨年２０周年を迎えられ、その記念事業でヤップ州の１４～１７才の学生１０名を日本に招聘してくださいました。１０日間の日本滞在中、彼らは文化体験や企業訪問など初めて経験することばかりで、充実した毎日を過ごしたようです。大使館に来た日は、周辺の桜の名所“桜坂”がちょうど見頃を迎え、桜並木におおはしゃぎしていました。学生の中には、十数年前に同じプロジェクトで父親が来日し、親子二代に亘って参加したメンバーもいました。日本とミクロネシア連邦の絆を深めてくださる活動に心から感謝申し上げます。

 

(Summary)

Ambassador and Staff welcomed ten students to the FSM Embassy (age between 14-17) from Yap High School and three chaperons who visited Japan under the sponsorship of NPO ECO-PLUS . The students were invited to visit Japan as part of  the NPO ECO-PLUS’s events in commemoration of its 20th foundation anniversary last year (2012). The program with Yap has been on for over twenty years and their programs in Japan this time  include visits to waste management and recycle facilities and factories, which is one of the main objective of the visit to observe and get firsthand knowledge of  Japan’s waste management and the technologies  to enable them to understand how to cope with the wastes in their respective communities. They also stayed with host families and visited other areas in the northern part of Japan  to experience different cultures and lifestyle. One of the chaperons this time participated in the program  twenty  years ago as a student. The Yap students  played an important role in deepening the Kizuna between FSM and Japan.

このたび海外漁業協力財団（ＯＦＣＦ）のミクロネシア連邦出張所 所長に就任された名倉さんと、高橋課長・堀之内課長がご来館されました。今後とも何卒、宜しくお願い致します。

 

(Summary)

The new Director of Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation’s (OFCF) Office in FSM, Mr. Nagura, paid call on the Embassy to inform about his date of departure to FSM to take up his new post. He was accompanied by Messrs Takahashi and Horinouchi from OFCF Headquarter in Tokyo. Ambassador took the opportunity in wishing him  all the success in his work and to strengthen the friendly and cooperative ties between FSM and Japan.

東京・市ヶ谷のＪＩＣＡ地球ひろばでは、３月中旬からミクロネシア連邦の特別展示が行われています。＜今週４／６（土）まで＞ 先日、フリッツ大使がＪＩＣＡ地球ひろばを訪問し、芳賀所長とお会いしました。展示最終日には観光セミナーが開催されます。また、２階のレストランでは４／１２までミクロネシア料理のランチを楽しむことができます。（平日のみ。１日３０食限定。）この機会に、ぜひ足を運んでみてください！

群馬県の富岡市国際交流協会の下田様と津金澤様がご来館されました。４月２１日（日）に開催される『富岡市国際交流まつり』に、今年も大使館が出展させていただく予定です。富岡製糸工場で有名な産業発展の地である富岡市。ミクロネシア連邦との交流をこれからも宜しくお願い致します。

２年半の任期を終え、ミクロネシア連邦ヤップ州から帰国した青年海外協力隊の長島千夏さんが、大使に現地での活動を報告するためご来館されました。長島さんはヤップ高校で日本語を教えていました。赴任中に、東日本大震災が発生。母国のために何かできないかと考え、ヤップ高校の生徒や地域の方々と一緒に千羽鶴を作成しました。鶴の一羽一羽にメッセージを添えて。規定で日本に帰国することができなかったため、福岡のご実家を通して、テレビ局が宮城県石巻市の高校に届けました。その模様がドキュメンタリー番組として放送されました。長島さんの今後のご活躍を期待しています。
