ICTプロジェクトの会合にお集りの皆様
The Assistant Secretary for Communication of the Department of Transportation Communication and Infrastructure, Mr. Jolden Johnnyboy, was in Tokyo to attend a two days symposium on Application of Wideband Internetworking Experiment Test and Demonstrations (WIND) sponsored by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and National Institute of Information and Communication Technology. During the visit he also followed up on the pilot project entitled “Joint Research on ICT Project Formations for Creating Development Models of Telecenter”, which will be implemented soon in the three States (Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk) in the FSM under the funding from the Government of Japan through the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT). The pilot project is approximately US $141,000.0, a result of the efforts undertaken by Dr. Saga, an adviser to the FSM on ICT, who has been working closely with Japan and FSM ICT projects.
In connection with the pilot project, a meeting was held at the Embassy between the core players including KDDI (consultant for the project), Kyowa Shipping (shipping company), Pilot Project Team (Johnnyboy, Dr. Saga, Dr. Pramank), and Embassy staff to go over the necessary procedures for smooth delivery of the necessary equipment and implementation of the project. The project will tremendously help the schools and communities in linking with the main center for the purpose of education, relate emergency and health information and etc.
