駐日ミクロネシア連邦大使：ジョン・フリッツの日々前進！

トラック島振興支援基金の鈴木健三様が今年3月にチューク島でおこなわれた医療奉仕団による眼科集団健診について報告に来られました。　　この医療奉仕団は広島の伊藤剛二医師（医療法人　健康倶楽部　理事長）や伊藤先生の活動に賛同された諸先生方や有志の方々により、9年以上前からトラック島振興支援基金の皆様のサポートで行われてきました。

私はミクロネシア連邦の国民、特にチュークの島民を代表いたしまして、この活動に関係された皆様に心から感謝の意を表します。

Mr. Kenzo Suzuki of the Chuuk Support Promotion Foundation (NGO/NPO) visited the Embassy to give a briefing on the outcome of the medical mission from Hiroshima who visited Chuuk in March this year to conduct eye medical operation and treatment. The medical mission from Hiroshima  has been conducting the  treatment program for over nine years under the supervision of Dr. Gouji Ito, Chairman of Medical Association and Kenko Club and his doctors colleagues from Hiroshima with the cooperation of the  Chuuk Support Promotion Foundation. This program is provided on a voluntary basis, and it has indeed helped improve the health and well-being of the people in Chuuk.  On behalf of the people of FSM, particularly Chuuk, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of those individuals involve in this important undertaking  for your kind  assistance and goodwill gesture, which have greatly benefited our people.

Pacific Islands Centre Deputy  Director Mr. Takehiro  Kurosaki visited the Embassy to discuss about the Pacific Islands FESTA 2010. The FESTA 2010 will take place from 5th to 7th of October this year (2010). FSM Embassy is in  full support of this event, and wish to invite  friends, traditional supporters and anyone interested to know about the Pacific Islands to visit the event site. 国士舘大学の中島たけし教授および宮崎健さん、東京有明医療大学の橋本准教授、櫻井、徳安講師の５名の柔道の高段者の方々が柔道の普及と現地の実情視察のため、８月５日～１１日の７日間、ヤップを訪問されます。　現地のCOM(ミクロネシア短期大学)には中島先生の教え子も教師として在籍しており、柔道の実演、交流も行われます。訪問前にご挨拶にお越しくださいました。

７／２８　横浜ベイクォーターの竹内和彦代表取締役と、金子ボクシングジムの金子健太郎会長が大使館にいらっしゃいました。　竹内様からのご紹介で金子会長をご紹介していただいた訳ですが、実は金子会長と私は、同じ時期に同じ大学にいた同窓生だったのです。　大学生活の共通の話題に花が咲きました。

これから、ボクシングやその他のスポーツの普及促進を通して我々との交流をさらに深め、友好関係がずっと続いていくことを期待しております。　竹内様の寛大なるサポートと友情に心から感謝申し上げます。

Mr. Kentaro Kaneko, President of Kaneko Promotion Company Limited (Kaneko Boxing Gym) visited the Embassy with Mr. Kazuhiko Takeuchi Representative Director of  Yokohama Bay Quarter. Through Mr. Takeuchi, whom I have close acquaintance  with,   introduced Mr. Kaneko to me. In fact Mr. Kaneko and I both graduated from the same University around the same time. It was fun talking about the university’s life and the experiences we had.

I look forward to continue the friendly relationship and to strengthen the  exchanges between our people through promotion of boxing and other sports.

I want  to also thank Mr. Takeuchi for his generous support and friendship.

ミクロネシア連邦のヴィタ・スキリング保健大臣が、医学のシンポジウムに参加するため、笹川平和財団の招聘で来日しました。　先日、大臣ご一行をお迎えして、大使館にて交流会を行いました。　東京都柔道接骨師会の皆様、ＪＯＣの河野一郎理事、太平洋諸島地域研究所の小林先生など日頃からお世話になっている方々や友人、大使館スタッフ・家族が集まりました。

東京都柔道接骨師会の工藤会長とスキリング大臣は、「団結して、ミクロネシア連邦に柔道や整骨術を広めていきましょう」と熱く語り合っていました。

また大臣は、今年３月の“コーチ・フォーラム”にミクロネシア連邦から３人の若いスポーツコーチをご招待して下さった、ＪＯＣの河野一郎理事にもお礼をされていました。

皆さん、大使夫人や公使夫人が用意したコスラエ・スープやバナナのお菓子など、ミクロネシアの味に舌鼓を打っていました。

※スキリング大臣は日本滞在中に、外務省の大臣政務官や笹川平和財団役員を表敬訪問したり、東京女子医大、杏林大学病院、京都の島津製作所を訪問しました。

During her visit to Japan under the invitation by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation to participate in the Association for Medical Education in the Western Pacific Region (AMEWPR)-Japan Society of Medical Engineering  (JSME) joint symposium, Secretary of Health Madame Vita A. Skilling  also had the opportunity to meet with the Embassy’s staff and families and friends including representatives  of Tokyo Metropolitan Judo and Japan Bone Correction Therapy Foundation, Jigoro Kano Memorial Sport Institute,  Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan Institute for Pacific Studies and others at the FSM Embassy. She also had good exchanges with the Judo Foundation Chairman Mr. Kudo because of the keen interest to collectively work together to promote judo and the bone correction therapy in the FSM.  She also took the opportunity to thank Dr. Ichiro Kono Chairman of the Jigoro Kono Memorial Sport Institute for inviting  FSM to participate in the “Asia Sports Coach Forum into the Future” held in March this year. FSM sent three young coaches to this forum.

Her program in Japan also  includes courtesy calls on Parliamentary Vice Minister for  Foreign Affairs, officials of  Sasakawa Peace Foundation, visit to Tokyo Women’s Medical University, Kyorin University Hospital,  Shimazu Corporation in Kyoto Prefecture.

Micronesia food prepared by the spouses of the diplomatic staff were served at the get together.
