駐日ミクロネシア連邦大使：ジョン・フリッツの日々前進！

ミクロネシア振興協会（ＡＭＤ）のご支援により、ザビエル高校の学生２名が来日しています。約２週間の滞在中、日本の企業見学や自然エネルギーの研修、千葉県の高校生との交流など、さまざまなプログラムを体験させていただきます。これは、ＡＭＤの『ミクロネシア連邦と日本の架け橋となる人材育成プロジェクト』によるものです。貴重な機会をいただき、心から感謝申し上げます。

Summary

Mr. Joey Wichep and Ms.  K-Andrea Evarose S. Limol from Xavier High School in Chuuk visited Japan under the invitation by  the Association for Micronesia Development (AMD). Coincides with the  celebration events of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and Japan this year, AMD invited these two youths as a way to  promote and further strengthen the people to people network between the young generations of both countries. Their program for the two weeks of stay in Japan  includes visits to companies and factories specializing in clean energy, cultural and goodwill exchange with high school students, visiting cultural sites and etc. Many thanks to AMD for providing the golden opportunity to our youths.

Summary

Mrs. Momoe Fritz, wife of Ambassador Fritz, and Ms. Takue Kusayanagi, Ambassador’s Secretary, met with United Airlines representatives Messrs.  Nagata and Takahashi to thank them for their continued support to the activities of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) by providing round-trip tickets between Tokyo and FSM as contribution to the annual charitable event. Spouses of the diplomatic staff of the FSM Embassy are member of the ALFS.

ミクロネシア連邦から日本に留学中のMiss Jonel PermanとMiss Kimberly Yamaguchiが来館しました。二人ともポンペイ州出身です。これまでに日本に留学した先輩たちは、いまやミクロネシア連邦や世界のさまざまな分野で活躍しています。将来、ミクロネシア連邦と日本の架け橋になる大切な人材です。彼女たちの成長を温かく見守っていきたいと思います。

Summary

Miss Jonel Perman and Miss Kimberly Yamaguchi are currently studying in Japan under the Monbusho ( Government of Japan) scholarship program. Both students are from the State of Pohnpei, and have much hope for them to follow the footstep of their Senpai (seniors) and become a bridge between the Federated States of Micronesia and Japan. Wish all the best.

７月２８日、両国・国技館で行われた『第２９回わんぱく相撲全国大会』に、松永ジョージくん（埼玉中央・６年）が初出場しました。ジョージくんのお父さんはミクロネシア連邦ポンペイ州出身のRobert Paulinoさん。お母さんは日本人です。

この大会は大変格式が高く、全国４万人の中から厳しい地区予選を勝ち抜いた選手だけが出場できます。なんと、ジョージくんは、その参加者を代表して開会式で選手宣誓を行いました。将来、ミクロネシア初の大相撲力士誕生に期待します！

Summary

The 29th Wanpaku (primary students)  nationwide sumo tournament was held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan  Sumo Arena  in Tokyo on July 28th.   George (Paulino) Matsunaga (6th grader of Saitama Chuo Primary School), citizen of FSM and son of Robert Paulino from Pohnpei State, competed in the tournament for the first time. His mother is a Japanese.

Held every year, the tournament is a very competitive one which brought in the strong competitors selected out of 40,000 nationwide. George was representing the competitors in saying the “Fair Play Pledge” which was a great honor.  Wish all the best to George and look forward to have the first FSM Rikishi (Sumo Wrestler) in the near future.
